Ted Huntington has been a writer for quite a while. He was also picked up by my publisher, Next Chapter.
Please, introduce yourself. Tell us about your personal life, family, education.
Hello, I’m Ted Huntington… New Yorker-turned-Californian-turned Coloradan. I earned my BA from SUNY Oneonta and attended graduate school at Cal State Northridge. Having spent most of my career as a marketing executive, and dabbling in writing over the years, I decided to follow my passion in 2019 – writing. A decade ago, I self-published two young adult novels – BLAST OFF TO ECAPS and BLAST OFF TO EARTH. In 2020 I was fortunate to land a deal with Next Chapter, which published DOUG MAXWELL, a supernatural superhero tale of the world’s greatest athlete in search of his true destiny. The sequel, CHARLIE ESTRELLA, another superhero saga, is due out soon courtesy of Next Chapter.
A father of three and grandfather of one, I enjoy reading, writing (of course), my dogs, my guitar, the NFL, and my exercise bike.

What do you like doing in your spare time?
Play my Epiphone Les Paul… read… dine at great restaurants… attend comedy clubs… watch live music. (Hopefully, I can attend all these activities again soon!) If you are active in career fields other than writing, what do you hope for the future of that business? Describe your work or business activities in which you are presently active. I still have my marketing consulting business, which I am started to blend with my writing by offering audiobook recordings, and book marketing assistance.
What inspired you to write your first book?
As a second grader I wrote a play titled BLAST OFF TO ECAPS, which my class performed. I thought I had peaked as a writer, until 35 years later I turned that play into a young adult novel of the same title.

When you see new authors struggling, what single piece of advice could you give them on a moment’s notice?
Keep writing. Write every day. Do not get down if the creativity is not flowing. Use those down times to accomplish other important tasks – edit, research, outline future chapters. If you can say you spent two hours a day in positive writing-related activity, then you had a successful day. Eventually the creative brainstorm will hit, and the words will flow. In addition, keep producing new material and grow your fan base. This is one of the best ways to enhance sales, especially if you are an independent author.
How do you want others to see you or remember you? Is it important to you?
I want to be remembered as a great storyteller, and a person who has greatly helped other writers to accomplish their goals. That is why I created the Facebook group, Author’s Networking Group, a forum for writers and author services to come together and support each other.
