Please, introduce yourself. Tell us about your personal life, family, education.
Hello Mary. Thank you for the opportunity to share a bit about myself and my writing with your readers. I am an award-winning author and, recently certified Inspiration coach. My writing focuses on positivity and being the change we want to see in the world. Whether I’m writing fiction or non-fiction, poetry or essays, my writing inspires positive change, encourages harmonious perspectives and promotes belief in the power of one. What do you like doing in your spare time?
Writing, of course. I truly love spending an entire day immersed in the words, landscapes, conflicts, passions and quagmires of my stories and characters. I once spent 14 hours writing… and it was blissful! If I’m not writing, I also enjoy travel, cooking, gardening, or just spending a laughter-filled evening with family playing games and enjoying a fine bottle of wine.
What is your ultimate writing goal as you see it today?
I am striving to ready a manuscript for agent querying and hope to have that ready by early 2022. Although I am fortunate to have a good hybrid publisher currently, I believe real financial freedom through writing can only happen with agent representation.

What inspired you to write your first book?
Many have asked me to explain to them what Dark Fey is about and how it was inspired. The original inspiration for the story came to me through a vivid dream, which I could not stop thinking about days afterward. As I thought about it, the characters stepped out of the shadows of the dream and demanded my full attention, so I finally sat down and wrote out the entire scene as I saw it in my mind, which is now Chapter Six of The Reviled.
How do you decide on the title of a book?
That is sometimes a painful process. Although with Dark Fey the titles came quite easily, for The Mercy Series I actually used a Facebook poll to help me decide on book titles. For the manuscript I’m currently working on for agent querying, I’ve gone through at least five title changes and have only finally settled on a title. It only took me about 30 years… literally. I’ve been working on this story since the 90’s!
Have you developed a specific writing style and why?
I’ve been told by many readers that my writing style, particularly my poetry, has a distinctive style, which leans more towards formal rather than contemporary. I believe this is a result of my love for classic literature like Charles Dickens, Jane Austin and Poe. Although, for The Mercy Series, I made a concerted effort to write less formally, using contractions and even some expletives. (Shocking, I know!)
How much of your books is realistic and experiences based on someone you know, or events in your life?
Only my poetry reflects my own life and experiences. While both of my series are fantasy and are a creation of my own imagination, The Mercy Series is also based on my interpretation of the Biblical Apocalypse and Revelations.

Do you remember the first book you read?
Not particularly, because I read a great deal as a child and youth, however I do recall that in sixth grade I discovered the Born Free series written by Joy Anderson. Because I love animals, the story truly riveted me and I actually read all three book several times. Some others that I’ve read and truly loved are: Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Legend of Wolf Song by George Stone, and, of course, Hamlet by William Shakespeare which I’ve read at least 30 times.
How do you want others to see you or remember you? Is it important to you?
I would love to be remembered as someone who could weave a captivating tale that stays with readers long after they close the book.
