Synopsis of Each Standalone Story
In River Bones, the 1st story, Sara returns home to the Sacramento River Delta area in California, looking to rebuild her life. Soon she finds she is stalked by an elusive serial killer. Sara agrees to act as a decoy to help catch the psychopath and finds herself trapped in the arms of a madman. A sub-plot has her love interest, Huxley Keane, searching for his MIA brother.
The 2nd story, The Howling Cliffs, begins deep in the Vietnam jungle where Sara, Huxley and the veteran search team scour the area for remains of MIAs. Before heading home to the Sacramento River Delta in California, Sara goes on to solve a missing child cold case on Kauai in Hawaii. Someone wants that cold case to stay cold. She is pushed over a steep cliffside in the rain forest and left for dead. (A former Marine helped me move the story through Vietnam and the jungle.)
In the third story, Dead to Life, Sara and Huxley need to find the brother’s former girlfriend hoping she still holds a duplicate of a key found in the jungle, the matching one she had given to Huxley’s brother before he was sent to Vietnam. Finding a matching key would confirm the one found in Vietnam belonged to Huxley’s missing brother. Locating the girlfriend unexpectedly takes Sara and Huxley on a harrowing search deep into the Honolulu, Hawaii underworld.
